Get Ready For A Bumpy Ride Into The Month of Love

There is a lot of planetary energy concurring now in the cosmos. To begin with, Mars, which is the planet of aggression, war, sexuality, and energy, has been retrograde since November 15, 2007, and is going direct in motion today, January 30, 2008. When a planet retrogrades, it appears to move backwards, and energy can be thwarted, projects can come to an impasse, and people can sometimes recede in relationships. The good news is that now that Mars, the action planet, is going direct, there should be a big burst of energy, and energy is the definition of the month of February. We can expect a lot of action this coming month.
As Mars goes direct, Mercury, the planet of communication, is going to retrograde in the sign of Aquarius. The sign of Aquarius rules technology, gadgets, and the internet, and Mercury will be retrograde in the sign of Aquarius from January 28 until February 19. When Mercury is in retrograde, I often hear clients complain about problems with their computers, cars, lost objects, wrong phone numbers, arguments and miscommunication. With Mercury in retrograde in the sign of Aquarius, this is doubly true, at least on the gadget end, so it's best to be patient and be forewarned.
Another big motion to add to the mix is the two major eclipses in the month of February: A solar eclipse in Aquarius on February 6 at 10:56 EST, and a total lunar eclipse in Virgo on February 20 at 10:27 pm EST. The solar eclipse in the sign axis of Aquarius/Leo evokes a new series of eclipses in these signs, which will continue through January 26 of 2010. A Solar eclipse occurs when the moon stands between the sun and earth, cutting off the light of the sun. A total solar eclipse always involves a new moon, and such eclipses tend to bring in new beginnings. Solar eclipse new moons are extra powerful, and they bring in hope and new beginnings for projects, relationships, and goals to which we apply ourselves. Manifest the energy as a new beginning in your life. The fact that this new beginning occurs in the sign of Aquarius, which also rules groups and friendships, and is on the axis of Leo, which rules fun and romance, should be considered a gift from the universe, a time to make new changes in your social life.
I've found in my study of eclipses that both solar and lunar eclipses can represent either endings or beginnings, often at the same time. However, it usually seems that solar eclipses tend to bring new people, new opportunities, and new relationships. No matter what, Aquarians and Leos are going to find a lot of beginnings, endings, and much change and movement in this next two years. Individuals under the signs of Aquarius and Leo, as well as the other fixed signs of Taurus and Scorpio might find this solar eclipse on February 6 helpful in bringing new romantic relationships and new people into their lives.
The lunar eclipse on February 20, however, marks an ending, as it will be the final eclipse in the sign axis of Pisces/Virgo, which began in March of 2006. Most Virgos and Pisces, as well as the other mutable signs Gemini and Sagittarius, have gone through much change and struggle, but, the fact that this is a total lunar eclipse signifies a conclusion and end to much of this struggle. People born under these signs might find this is a way of alleviating some of the tests that have been thrown to them with these eclipses these past two years, often out of the blue.
The upcoming total lunar eclipse in Virgo could help to rejuvenate a cycle, which has been very challenging for many of my clients in terms of relationships, work matters, and in their life direction. Eclipses often uncover matters, which may have remained hidden up until now. Eclipses also help to bring closure in partnerships, especially when they are unhealthy, as well as endings and culmination of matters, in general. On the other hand, it could help open up communication to bring in healing in unresolved matters of the heart.
A lunar eclipse occurs approximately every 6 months, and it is an extra powerful full moon, so get ready for high emotions this month and for hearing about a lot of relationship issues. A lunar eclipse happens when the earth is between the sun and the moon, and the shadow of the earth falls on the moon. Lots of wild things happen around lunar eclipses, and one might encounter a lot of "odd" people or occurrences. One positive aspect about eclipses is sometimes they bring things to a head and bring resolution, so if there is a problem one is grappling with, this lunar eclipse could help to bring some closure in the matter.
